“It’s a tough loss for the guys,”said BYU head coach Shawn Olmstead . “When those sets are that close sometimes those are tougher to swallow than a different kind of loss. We’ve got to have thick skin here and find the ability to dig deep and rebound.”

After winning the first set the Cougars dropped the next three. In the second set the teams battled back and forth in a long set, the Waves eventually won 33-31. The Cougars lost the next two 25-23 and 25-22.

Jake Langlois had a career high 24 kills on the night with a .302 hitting percentage. Leo Durkin also earned a career high by contributing 60 assists on the night.

The Cougars 13 game win streak, the second longest in program history, was broken in the loss.

BYU will face UC San Diego on the road next Friday to continue MPSF conference play.
