Provo Police have received a few calls reporting sightings of missing person Elizabeth Elena Laguna Salgado since the department announced on Nov. 12 that the reward money for information leading to locating Salgado has increased to $50,000.

But Detective Ringel of the Provo Police Department said they have been able to confirm that the sightings were not of Salgado.

Ringel said he, Salgado’s family and others invested in finding her still hope they will find her, despite the lack of updates.

A local company donated the extra funds for the reward. Ringel said he’d hoped the reward increase would bring more tips and tips that would lead to finding Salgado.

He said they’re still “waiting to see what it would bring in.” The stream of tips has slowed down in the recent months, but there are still some, he said.

Ringel said any major updates will be posted on the Provo Police Department’s Facebook page.

The Utah Department of Public Safety lists 77 missing persons in Utah. Four of those listed, including Salgado, have been reported as missing some time in 2015. Six others have been missing since 2014.

Ringel said he and Salgado’s family always have hope for the case and for finding Salgado, just as dectectives do for other missing persons cases. Ringel said he meets with Salgado’s family every week. “It’ll never close until we find her,” he said.
