4 LDS temples to be dedicated, renovated in 2015

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced dedication dates for two new temples in 2015, and two older temples will be closed for renovation, according to Mormon Newsroom.

The Payson Utah Temple will be dedicated in three sessions on June 7, 2015. It will be broadcast to wards within that temple district in lieu of regular block meetings. The open house for the public will be Friday, April 24 through Saturday, May 23, with the exception of Sundays, April 26 and May 3, 10 and 17. It will be the 15th temple in Utah and be the 146th dedicated temple.

The Cordoba Argentina Temple will be dedicated on May 16, 2015. The public open house will be from April 17 to May 2.

The Idaho Falls, Idaho, Temple will close March 16, 2015 and will reopen in October 2016, according to a Dec. 16 release from Mormon Newsroom. The Idaho Falls Idaho Temple was dedicated by President George Albert Smith in 1945, making it 70 years old at the temple of renovation.

The Freiberg Germany Temple will close Feb. 9, 2015, and reopen in May 2016. Members in eastern Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary attend the Freiberg Germany Temple.

“The Frankfurt Germany Temple is preparing to accommodate members from the Freiberg Germany Temple district during the closure,” according to Mormon Newsroom.

This will be the temple’s second major renovation. This temple was dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley in 1985, but he rededicated it in 2002 after its first renovation.
