  1. The BYU women’s soccer team is looking to extend its win streak to double digits when it plays Santa Clara (10-5-0) and San Francisco (6-7-2) this week at home. After a slow start to the season, the Cougars have turned their season around, winning their last nine games.
  1. After last Saturday’s win over LMU, the Cougars are ranked No. 19 in the nation and are on top of the West Coast Conference. They are undefeated so far this season in conference play. BYU’s Ashley Hatch has been named the WCC Player of the Week twice in the past month. Hatch also recorded a hat trick last week in the win over Portland, BYU’s first hat trick in nine years.

  1. The Cougars have scored 32 goals so far this season. Sophomore Ashley Hatch leads BYU with 12 so far this season. The Cougars average 2.13 goals a game, while their opponents are only averaging .80 goals per game. Continuing this explosive offense will be key in getting two more wins this week, especially against a physical-offensive-minded Santa Clara team.
  1. Santa Clara has only lost once in conference play so far this season. The Broncos are led by Sofia Huerta, who has scored 10 goals so far this season. Huerta was named WCC Player of the Week in September. The Cougars need to contain Huerta and continue to play strong defense against the Broncos.
  1. BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood is pleased with how her team has been playing, especially on defense. The Cougars didn’t allow a single shot on goal in their win last Saturday. So far this season, BYU has given up only 12 goals.
