Fans have another chance to check out the BYU swim and dive teams when they host their annual Blue and White meet on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 9 a.m. at the Richards Building Pool.
“The Blue and White meet is always competitive,” coach John Brooks said. “We have had activities all week and the meet will be the final of the competition.”
With nine freshmen on the men’s team and 16 on the women’s team, the meet provides an opportunity for fans to see the new faces in action and watch the experienced swimmers compete.
Last season, the men’s team won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship and hopes to repeat as conference champions this season. Several members of the men’s team have been busy competing this summer. Captains Hayden Palmer and Jake Taylor, along with junior Chad Sorensen, competed at the Phillips 66 USA National Championships in Irvine, California, and sophomore Rainer Ng is currently in South Korea competing in the Asian Games.
After a third-place finish last season, the women’s team is getting ready to make a run at an MPSF championship. The 16 freshmen, along with the returning swimmers, are working hard and competing every day to make that goal a reality.
