Free movie screening at Orem Public Library

The Orem Public Library offers free movie screenings Monday and Friday nights, with the exception of the second Friday of each month.

Typically, there is a theme each month that can be a very general selection of movies or something more specific such as holiday movies or Iranian Cinema.

“We pick the best titles that we can find for the theme that meet our certain criteria: no R-rated films, nothing we aren’t licensed to show and nothing that doesn’t fit the time slot,” said James Scarbrough, the media librarian for the Orem Public Library.

Previous features include “Perks of Being a Wallflower,” “Clueless,” “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

This month has a general theme: library staff members each picked a few movies they were thankful for in honor of the Thanksgiving season.

The next screening will take place on Nov. 11 with the feature “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.”  The film begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Auditorium.

The Orem Public Library is located at 58 N. State Street in Orem.
