BYU men’s golf surged to a second-place victory behind Justin Keiley to win the Triumph at Pauma Valley by a mere stroke on Tuesday.

Keiley’s final round count totaled 72 (+1), and four Cougars finished in the top five shooting 287 (+3) and 11-over-par. San Francisco topped BYU by two strokes, and UC Riverside finished third with 50-over-par.

“(Keiley) sure played great to get his first college win,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said in a press release. “It was awesome. It was just so impressive to watch a kid start maturing and making better choices, and then how he handles adversity; he’s just made such great strides that way. To get a win on this golf course — the toughest we play all year — makes it a great win.”

Up next for the Cougs is the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. March 21-23.
