BYU hockey prepares for back-to-back away games against Weber State University on Friday and Utah State University on Saturday.

Both opponents present a challenge for the Cougars. Both USU and WSU are ranked first and fifth respectively in the region and have competed in national tournaments.

“In state games are always intense,” head coach Jeremy Weiss said. “I expect both games to be hard fought.”

The Cougars started off their season with high hopes, only to lose their first game against San Diego State University due to inconsistent defense. Coach Weiss expects to see improvement this weekend.

“We’re capable of more consistency on defense,” he said. “We’ll overcome with physical play, hard work, and disciplined attention to detail.”

BYU will play WSU on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Weber County Ice Sheet. The Cougars will play the Aggies on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the George S. Eccles Ice Center.
