PROVO, Utah (AP) — A woman is dead and a man injured after a 17-year-old boy driving a stolen vehicle at high speeds crashed in Provo.

Authorities say the teen had been reported missing from the Provo Canyon School group home for troubled teens on Sunday afternoon, and later entered a home to steal clothes.

He was spotted that evening driving a stolen Mercedes SUV.

Officers were unable to stop him, and say he continued speeding after they stopped chasing. Sgt. Brandon Post says the teen struck the back of another SUV at high speeds before fleeing on foot.

He was caught and arrested.

Police say a 65-year-old woman in the SUV died of her injuries, while a man in the vehicle was taken to the hospital and was in intensive care Monday morning.
