The Provo Police launched an investigation into the alleged misconduct of an officer while he was serving as a School Resource officer at Provo High School.

The Daily Herald reported that the incident occurred at a birthday party for one of the school’s employees. The officer allegedly dropped his pants to reveal green Speedo-style underwear. The party had a “Princess and the Frog” theme. The officer was supposed to represent the frog.

The officer was immediately reassigned and an investigation into the incident was launched on May 3, 2012.

“We have worked very hard to overcome past perceptions of our department,” Provo Police Chief Rick Gregory said in a news release. “We have also worked very hard to gain the trust and respect of the citizens we serve.  While this incident has the potential to drag us backwards, I am confident that the hard work of our department coupled with the many great things we do each day and our swift and serious handling of this incident will help us to maintain the support and confidence of our community.”
