Letter: Chameleon Bikers

152

I am a custodial supervisor at BYU and often get the inside track on some of the dangers we all experience as we go about our business here.

Specifically, one of my crew came in with her face all skinned up.

She admitted a bike drove up behind her as she was walking across the street, At the crosswalk it ran into her, sending her sprawling.

I’ve remembered all of the times a silent biker passed by me quite rapidly just as I was getting ready to turn or some other thing that would have been disastrous, just as it was for my crewmember.

Many other times I have been driving my vehicle and just as I was ready to shoot out into traffic, a bike would come from the wrong direction, barely missing the deadly collision with my one and a half-ton car.

I just worry one of these times I will hit a chameleon biker or he will hit me.

I don’t want to end up getting psychotherapy to overcome the trauma of accidentally hitting one of you.

Please look at the traffic laws for your vehicle and follow them for the safety of all of us.
