BYU men?s volleyball team members, health advocates, and even Miss UVSC joined forces Thursday afternoon at the Utah County Health Department in an effort to educate the public about men?s health concerns.

Men?s volleyball players were on hand to help answer questions and give personal insight on the fitness of younger men.

?It?s a balance of weight training, flexibility and cardiovascular training,? senior opposite Casey Patterson said. ?Eating healthy enables our bodies to handle a high level of physical activity.?

Health officials from The Cancer Crusader Organization focused on informing those in attendance about certain cancer risks that men of all ages face.

?Utah residents are at the highest risk for skin cancer in the nation,? Cancer Crusader board member Danielle White said. ?One in 52 people that live here will be diagnosed with it at some point.?

Though Utah is ranked as the healthiest state in the nation, it also ranks near the top of the list for cancer patients. The American Cancer Society noted over 400 incidents of skin cancer last year. In 2005, that number is projected to climb over 500.
