BYU women”s volleyball is finally home this weekend as they play in the BYU Mizuno Classic on Friday Sept. 12 and Saturday Sept. 13.

“Everybody is tough, we have to be playing our best every match,” said Coach Karen Lamb. The Cougars will need to be playing their best when they play top-seeded No. 8 Penn State on Saturday.

Lamb also said the team is having issues that it needs to work on that keep creeping up. One of those issues is the inexperience of the team.

Although the team is inexperienced, they have continued to play well.

“The team has done a lot of good things we just need to do them more often,” Lamb said.

The Cougars will look to Kim Wilson, who won all-tournament honors last weekend in the SMS Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational, along with Carrie Bowers and a consistant Lindsey Metcalf.

“I hate to name names, but everyone has had their moments,” Lamb said.

Lamb said the team is excited to finally be home and in front of a home crowd.

“If we get the fan support behind us, we will go very far this season,” Lamb said.

The Cougars will open the tournament Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against Ohio State. They will also play Rice on Saturday at noon and Penn State at 7:30.

“Come and support. It will be a fun event,” Lamb said.

On Sept. 19, the Cougars will play their first game against Utah Valley State College.

The Cougars are 4-3 after splitting four games last week at the SMS invitational.
