Career Resource Services, formerly Career Placement Services, has made it easier for students to submit resumes to employers through a new online job search system by Crimson Solutions.

Placement Advisor Dottie Jensen said the system will provide a better connection with employers and students. She said the purpose of the system is for students to have access to company information 24 hours a day.

Jensen said the system is mainly for all majors of seniors and juniors looking for internship opportunities. She said alumni will hopefully be able to access information in the future.

Jensen said the process is fairly simple. Students can log in for information by accessing eRecruiting.com, submit personal profiles and resumes and wait for employers to search the resume book.

Interested employers can then contact possible prospects through e-mail. Jensen said the system also allows students to apply for jobs and select interview time slots.

Although it is mainly intended for juniors and seniors, some graduate students have expressed an interest in the system. Moises Bada, 25, a graduate student from Mexico City, Mexico obtaining a masters degree in accounting, thinks the new system will be convenient for him.

“It will probably facilitate the ability to locate recruiters 24 hours a day, not only from 8 to 5 when the office is open. It will definitely save me time,” he said.

Other students, including Katherine Kerr, a graduate student form Bekalb, Illinois, are kind of skeptical about using the system.

“It’s kind of scary to put your profile and resume online where anybody can read it.” Kerr said.

Jensen said it is important for students to be aware of the system since there is no longer going to be posting on campus.

“If (students) are not pro-active, the employers are going to come and go and they are not going to be aware of it,” she said.

Jensen said she is very optimistic about the new system and she said she is confident it will be a positive and useful resource for students as well as employers.

Placement Advisor Richard Cox said Career Resource Services provides information and possible job opportunities for 840 employers and 10,000 recruiters.

According to Cox, the employers the CRS works with are in the fields of engineering, business, pharmaceutical, computer, international and accounting, including the Big Five firms. He said Exxon, Shell, Boeing, IBM and Microsoft are some of the major companies that provide employment for students.
